Menu Plan Monday: September 12-September 18


It’s September. Fall is just around the corner. Well, I think it is. Looking out the window, I see leaves slowly falling to the ground. Yet, it doesn’t feel like September. You see, here in the Pacific Northwest, summer nearly missed us. For the next few days, though, we will have summer-like temperatures.

Personally, I am ready for cooler temps, leaves changing colors, even a few rain showers. Also, I am ready for the tastes of the season. Soups. Stews. Comfort foods. You know, tasty dishes created with apples, pumpkins, acorn and butternut squash. Yum!

Until then….we’ll, just enjoy what we have! This week, my menu reflects me “cleaning out the freezer*”. Well, the little freezer above the fridge in the kitchen! Thankful to have some go-to meals prepared (soup, gumbo, etc.)



*Hamburgers or Salmon Burgers, Green Salad, Fresh Fruit


Dinner at Staff Meeting


*Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Brown Rice and Crackers


*Vegetable Beef Soup, Cornbread


*German Bratwurst, Buttered Noodles, and Green Beans




Curried *Tilapia, Cranberry Almond Couscous Pilaf (Jon’s request) and Steamed Vegetables* (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, etc.)

*Freezer foods.
