This was the view outside of my window this morning.
There is something about a snow fall that brings calmness, serenity and stillness to our lives.
As I looked out the window at the freshly fallen snow, I was reminded of a lovely mezzo – soprano aria, which I love to hear and to perform, “Must the Winter Come So Soon” from Barber’s opera Vanessa.
In the castle’s drawing room, Erika asks Vanessa why the winter must be so long and come so soon, bringing with it a gray dreariness to the forest in which the castle lies. Enjoy!
