When our family embarked upon this challenge, we thought this would be a fun way to save money, be creative in meal preparation, as well as discern between wants and needs. However, it has turned into something of far greater significance.
I am sure that most of you are aware of the tragedy that has struck Haiti. With that said, as a family, we have decided to use our grocery money for the month of January (and possibly February) in response to the great need in this country. Never did we think that something as trivial as not buying groceries for a month would turn into something of spiritual significance in our lives, but it has. As Americans, we have so much. No matter what your income level, the poorest in our country are rich in comparison to the many around the world.
Our denomination, the Free Methodist Church of North America, has set up a site where you can give to help the people of Haiti. Much is needed: money, supplies, food, shelter, people to go. Here is the link where you can help.
So, now, I challenge you all to think about how you can aid this cause. Obviously, we can all PRAY. Most, if not all, of us can GIVE. Some will be called to GO.
What are you being challenged to do?
